Week 38 Update

This whole pregancy I have been so happy that I haven't suffered like many new moms with the swelling - well, welcome to week 38! My feet and ankles look like those of an elephant...just lovely! Everything went well at our appt on Wednesday, but she wants to check the fluid in my placenta again so we'll be having another ultrasound next week (Thursday). If it's looking low she said she may induce me early, otherwise we'll have another week or so. I hadn't progressed at all and Addison is still sitting very high (not even dilated 1 cm!!) I am working my last day tomorrow so please pray that I will not go crazy at home...more importantly that I can make myself sit next week with my feet up and not run around trying to nest. Most importantly, just pray she gets here safely!! Love you all and thank you SO much for your prayers during this entire "wild ride"!

Little Ones and Hand Sanitizer

Hey guys -
I have gotten this in a forwarded email before but then I had a friend email me that it had actually happened to a kid in her son's class so read on and be careful with the hand sanitizer and your little ones!!

Yesterday, my youngest daughter, Halle , who is 4, was rushed to the emergency room by her father for being severely lethargic and incoherent. He was called to her school by the school secretary for being 'very VERY sick.' He told me that when he arrived, Halle was barely sitting in the chair. She couldn't hold her own head up and when he looked into her eyes, she couldn't focus them. He immediately scooped her up and rushed her to the ER, and then called me. When we got there, they ran blood test after blood test and did x-rays, every test imaginable. Her white blood cell count was normal, nothing was out of the ordinary. The ER doctor told us that he had done everything that he could do so he was sending her to Saint Francis for further tests. Right when we were leaving in the ambulance, her teacher came to the ER and, after questioning Halle's classmates, we found out that she had licked hand sanitizer off her hand. Hand sanitizer, of all things. But it makes sense. These days they have all kinds of different scents and when you have a curious child, they are going to put all kinds of things into their mouths. When we arrived at Saint Francis, we told the ER doctor there to check her blood alcohol level, and yes we did get weird looks, but they did it. The results showed her blood alcohol level was 85% -- six hours after we first took her. There's no telling what it would have been if we would have requested it at the first ER. Since then, her school and a few surrounding schools have taken this out of the classrooms of all the lower grade classes, but what's to stop middle and high schoolers from ingesting the stuff? After doing research on the Internet, we have found out that it only takes 3 squirts of the stuff to be fatal in a toddler. For her blood alcohol level to be so high was to compare someone her size to drinking something 120 proof. So please PLEASE don't disregard this because I don't ever want anyone else to go through what my family and I have gone through.

Valentine's Day with the Pumphreys

When you're big and uncomfortable, going out to dinner doesn't sound nearly as fun as it used to....so, my sweetie spent most of Saturday preparing a wonderful Valentine's dinner for me. I am a total dork and had to take pictures of everything because it was so good!! I never have to worry about going hungry with this man around! I love him for so many things, but he definitely knows the way to a pregnant girl's stomach!

Appetizer: Shrimp cakes with roasted corn and poblano relish

Entree: Grilled tuna with apricot, mustard, and mint glaze

Dessert: Chocolate Cornbread Pudding....yum!!!

Good News!

Sorry I haven't posted this sooner, but little Addison is wonderful! We went to our appointment on Tuesday and she weighed (based on the ultrasound) 5lb 110z - this can be off by a pound, but currently she is in the 29th percentile in weight. The doctor says this is good, she's just going to be small and "dainty" which is great with her momma!! Thank you so much for all your prayers - only a little over 3 weeks to go!! Love you all!

Update on Addison

For those of you I haven't talked to in a few weeks, we went for my regular appointment a couple weeks ago and when the doctor measured my belly, Addison was measuring smaller than she should (I was 33 weeks and she was measuring only 30). Heartbeat and movements were great, but since she was outside the "norm" they wanted to check her a little closer. They sheduled us for a growth ultrasounds which we thought was supposed to be this week, but after getting up at 5am and driving to Johnson City by 7:30am, her mommy had a blonde moment and the appointment is actually next week (Feb 10). So, with a few tears (of course since I'm pregnant, slightly emotional, and treasure every ounce of sleep I get!) Zach and I headed off for a long day of work. We will update you next Tuesday with the results of the ultrasound.....just keep little girl in your prayers!
